10 Rock Band Songs For Your Next Party

When you’re at a party … perhaps enjoying some delicious “adult beverages” … there may come a point when someone says; “So what do you all want to do?” At this point take your pineapple daiquiri from your lips and suggest … how about we play Rock Band?

I’m sure everyone will thank you for this amazing suggestion.

It is no secret that we here at Headshot Radio swear by the party aspect of Rock Band … so I thought I’d compile a list of ten songs that are essential to any rocking party. These are NOT the best songs in the game … but the most fun songs to play with a four member band.

Top 5 Party Songs Included in Rock Band

5. Don’t Fear The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult)

While this song may not rock as hard as some of the others … thanks to Will Farrell this song will forever make everyone in the room have a good time. Especially if the singer decides to start playing the cowbell (tapping the microphone) in the lead guitarists face with his shirt half up his stomach. (Thanks Dustin)

4. Ballroom Blitz (Sweet)

This song was the OTHER song  made famous by Wayne’s World … and it is a blast to play. The singer has to go nuts and the guitar and drums make you get into the song. This song makes you want to jump around and break stuff … even nice stuff.

3. Wanted Dead Or Alive (Bon Jovi)

If anyone knows me … they know I’ve been looking forward to this song ever since rhythm games were invented. With one of the most distinctive guitar riffs in rock history and some balls to the wall vocals … this song makes up for the lack of things for the drummer and bass player to do.

2. Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Jet)

This song brings all the parts of the band together to make for one kick ass rock tune. The guitar is peppy, the vocals are fun, the drum beat is one of the best in the game and get this … the bass is the best part of this song! This song is guaranteed to force energy down the throats of everyone watching (and playing for that matter).

1. Foreplay / Longtime (Boston)

I had never heard this song before Rock Band … and then we played it and it INSTANTLY became my favorite song in the game to play. The guitar in this song is amazing …  Especially during the 3 solos. The bass is very solid and the vocals are terrific although very high (hey … it’s a Boston song.) The only thing wrong with this song is that the singer has nothing to do for the first minute and a half. However if he’s a true front-man … he’ll be using that time to pump up the spectators and collect all the bras thrown on stage.

THE TOP 5 DOWNLOADABLE PARTY SONGS

5. Move Along (All-American Rejects)

I know I’m going to take some flack for this one … but this song is a ton of fun to play. Mostly due to the fact that both guitar parts are great and the drums are solid. The vocals are ok … but the singer can take some opportunities to make the song more fun than it sounds on paper.

4. Synchronicity II (The Police)

Along with the Jet song and any of the Rush Songs … the bass part in this one is the most enjoyable part of the song. However … the guitar is also very catchy and the vocals can be challenging … but also fun as hell. This song will probably stay on the list until “Message in a Bottle” drops in a week (which is a better song … but that’s only because it’s my favorite Police tune … right in front of this one.)

3. Sex Type Thing (Stone Temple Pilots)

Here is the hard rock song of the list. Sex-Type Thing just rocks in all aspects of the word. The guitar and bass are gritty, the drums are loud, and the vocals are creepy as hell. Put it all together you have one hell of a kick ass song that you probably wouldn’t want to play in front of your mother. This song was truly STP at their finest.

2. My Sharona (The Knack)

WHAT?!? My Sharona is number #2?!?

Hey … shut up. Have you listened to this song lately or are you just thinking about that crappy Weird Al Parody? This song rocks … but not in the same way as #3 does. The drums get you pumped and the guitar riff is one of the most catchy ever laid down. Not only that … but this song contains the best solo in the game. Top that with some great and hilarious vocals and you’ve got a great party song. TRUST ME.

1. More Than A Feeling (Boston)

Boston for the sweep. You can’t really argue with this because More Than A Feeling is one of the most Cheesy and catchy rock tunes of all time. The guitar is terrific and the drums are great as well. But if you really want a treat … get the guy with the worst voice in the room to get up there and sing … because you won’t stop laughing for days. On the flip side … a good singer can really make this song the headline of your Rock Band party. Now go, have a few brewskis and PLAY!

  1. Not a bad list. I would agree that My Sharona would be a fun song to do. Not so sure about Mor Than A Feeling…it is really cheesy. I suppose that is the thing that would make it fun. STP, I am not a big fan of. Sweet and Bon Jovi Rocks…I still laugh every time I hear Wanted Dead Or Alive becuase of you guys. That was the best. Keep it up. You should do either My Sharona or Ballroom Blitz like you did with Wanted Dead or Alive and post it on YouTube, that would be awesome. Maybe do that for Eric’s bachlor party.

  2. Believe me Wil … I’ve thought about some way to get my 360 and Rock Band to Michigan for the Wedding. And short of making the Rock Band Box my check-in luggage I’m not sure how I can do it. Even then I’d worry about it getting broken.
